Airspace Technologies is a modern logistics company that calculates millions of possible "Next Flight Out" decisions for clients. within 1 second. I designed their branding as well as their net-gen application suite of tools through mobile, tablet, desktop for clients as well as internal administrative support.
Redesign logo for more modern identity
I created the Airspace logo for the purposes of rebranding their image as a forward thinking modern company. Their goals were pointed and services concrete however they needed something iconic that represented their platform.
A strong presence that demands unique attention.
We wanted to create a mobile website that was driven by human touch that told a story about the technical magic behind their delivery speeds. To create this innovative mobile website I had to analyze by tenths of a second system processes that create 10,000,000 possible delivery options within 1 single second. Designing a mobile experience that flows down into a powerful story was extremely difficult as well as fun.
Bring in the utility without losing the unique technical design
Creating a mobile menu that operated similar to the normal expectations with a flair was the goal. We designed the menu to handle login attempts and navigation while keeping with an "industry new norm" approach in the front facing technology.
Engage customers by wrapping a beautiful experience around a powerful toolset.
I created this mobile experience through months of user interviews, hallway testing, competition featureset analysis, secret shopping, C-level interest and low fidelity prototyping. The end result was stage 1 of an iterative approach to a much larger and seamless suite of tools across multiple mediums.
Show the client where all their orders are "at-a-glance"
The ability of this application to show where all orders exist in real time on a map triggered by a single tap, was a monumental feat. By placing the mapping element in the menu we were able to accomplish both organizationally accurate navigation but also a centrally located at-a-glance map view.
Order digest overview recreated to showcase future events
The logistical system calculated many different stages along the way of a user order. I spent weeks crawling over details to remove unnecessary data points while also focusing on more relevant ones. Once I determined which data points were valuable to the end user (through phone calls to existing customers and seasoned industry professionals) I recreated their design to appear as a timeline of both previous and future events for better assimilation of time critical data.
Reload specific order events in real time
Clients wanted a way to refresh each order separately without changing the details on other orders. I placed the "refresh" mechanic inside the order card to give the feeling that the order being refreshed was only affecting that specific one.
Historical data meets projected future calculations
I was being asked to "Expose the Magic" that was behind the software. I knew that I had historical data and I knew that I had 99.9% accurate future data, So I created a time wheel to control past and future order maps. Seeing orders as they are moving, how they moved and how they will move revealed the "Magic Behind the Scenes" .
Instant search for order information from any order
With orders and shipments covering time and space, we needed a way to pinpoint specific orders through criteria such as time, date and order number. Creating a built in (quick access) search component with powerful type-ahead features made their customers very happy.
Immersive experiences are for B2B too
I wanted to create an experience around a mundane operation. I believe that in any app there is a great potential to create art, beauty, engagement and critical whimsy at points where utility is the main solution. By creating a fun and engaging opening/login sequence users increase their adoption rate and this allows for increased trust as marketshare is gained.
Touch sensitive information pops out revealing order information
Seeing all orders through panning, tapping, pinching and more allows an immersive experience with time sensitive data. Through wireframes, persona development and endless user interviews we found that the more significant accomplishments we created through the least amount of actions, the greater the experience was for the user..
Dashboard innovation allows for complete control
Hundreds of inbound and outbound international shipments demanded a complete rework of the Operation team's administration software. I created a powerful open solution to give complete transparency and control to the team with a refreshing simple UI..
Sort and Filter within existing arrangements
The Ops team needed a way to quickly filter by company and other criteria without losing their already-existing top level filter previously set. This was the most fun I've had creating a dashboard ever once the idea of primary sub sorting clusters appeared on the whiteboard walls of the office space.
Sort and Filter within existing arrangements ... within existing arrangements
That's right ... secondary clusters, and truth be told, there is no limit of sub clustering because of this design. A member of the operations team can sort, filter and analyze in real time using the concept of clusters while keeping everything organized and filtered.
Organized and optimized data flow allows for real time scanning for critical decisions
There was so much data the operations team needed to organize once they were inside the order itself, I had to recreate the model using flow charts that prioritized most requested information across the team. Taking an organized approach to data while adding a profoundly beautiful UI model to the page view, the team felt truly "listened to" as they received a new way to work every day.
